East–West Baseline Road closure for roadworks (Phase 1: June–November 2026)

Parks Australia advises that phase 1 construction works on the East–West Baseline Road in Christmas Island National Park are scheduled to commence 1 June 2026 and finish 30 November 2026.
During this period, the East–West Baseline Road will be closed to the public from the eastern park entry (Pink House turn-off) to the Murray Road intersection.
The works are expected to involve a staged construction process typical of road upgrades, such as preparing the road foundation, rebuilding sections of the road base, resurfacing, and completing final safety treatments.
Please follow all traffic management signs and directions from traffic managers.
