Major access upgrades completed at Dolly Beach and West White Beach
Visitors to Christmas Island National Park can now enjoy improved access to two of the island's most popular beaches, with major infrastructure upgrades at Dolly Beach and West White Beach now complete.
These projects represent a significant investment in visitor infrastructure and build on Parks Australia's commitment to improving access and visitor experiences across the national park.
Work will continue elsewhere in the park, with upgrades at the Dales scheduled to commence on 1 October 2026. The project will include installation of 120 metres of new handrail and a new section of boardwalk and handrail to safely divert visitors around a large fallen tree.
During construction at the Dales, the trail terminus will remain closed. The remainder of the trail will remain open while handrails and other repairs are completed.
Visitors are encouraged to follow all traffic management signage and directions from workers while construction activities are underway.
